Periodic Meter Changes

It is a requirement of the Board of Public Utilities that we remove and test our water meters periodically for accuracy. This is for your benefit as well as ours.

Schedule of Periodic Meter Changes

  • 5/8″ Meters Every 10 Years
  • 3/4″ Meters Every 8¬†Years
  • 1″ Meters Every 6¬†Years

If a meter is found to be malfunctioning we can correct the problem before it creates too many incorrect bills. If your meter is found to be running more than 1.5% fast, you will be credited for any over-billing that has occurred. The replacement meter we install in your home has been tested for accuracy under guidelines established by the Board of Public Utilities. The meter we remove will undergo the same rigid testing standards before being put into service again.

When you receive a green postcard or door tag requesting that this service be performed at your house, please call us as soon as possible to schedule an appointment. We have morning hours between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM and afternoon hours between 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM. We can also accommodate our customers who are not available during the week with limited Saturday hours.
